Water At Last

Twenty Minutes later and a bore hole that has not pumped water for more than five years is delivering 2500 liters per hour.

We witnessed community members dancing in the water and singing in joy. It really brought me back to earth to witness the hardships these communities have to endure.

Who said water provision is a democratic right?

Thankfully the Tsolwana Municipality has commissioned us to repair six of these windmills.
The communities in this area are going to receive a great Chistmas Present. Fresh Water on their door step.

This will bet he first BrumbyPump instalation in rural South Africa. The Tsolwana Municipality must be complimented for the pro activeness.

Brumby Pumps Deliver a Solution

Here we are installing The Brumby Pump. The installation took approx 20 Minutes.

The cost of repairing this windmill is R48 000.00
We can recommission 5 bore holes with Brumby Pumps and compressors for the same cost as repairing the windmill.

The major advantage is that there is no maintenance required on the BrumbyPump. The reason is that it has no working parts and operates using compressed air.

Brumby Pumps To The Rescue

This picture depicts a very common problem in the rural areas of the Eastern Cape , South Africa.

This windmill has not pumped water in excess of 5 years. The local community are walking in excess of 4 kilometers , pushing wheel barrows with plastic containers in them to the nearest water. In this case a very slimy pool in a river. When this picture was taken the area was gripped in a lenghty drought.

This picture was taken in the Tsolwana Municipal area near Queenstown.

Brumby Pumps

Two weeks ago I met George Ritchie in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

George has the distribution rights for the Brumby Pump in South Africa and other African countries.

When George explained to me that the Brumby Pump works by using compressed air, I nearly fell off of my chair. I am a farm boy born and bred and can distinctly remember the problems we had on my Grandfathers farm with windmills & electric submersible pumps.

I immediately asked George if I could have an agency to sell the product as I knew in my gut that this product has massive potential. I have taken the product to a number of people that are directly involved in the industry. My friend Jimmy who has a pump company. He sells, maintains & services submersible pumps for his clients and has been doing so for 20 years.

When I presented the product Jimmy was blown away for a number of reasons.
1) The Brumby Pump has no working parts. It will last a veeeery long time.
2) If the bore hole runs dry the Brumby will not burn out.
3) The Brumby Pump can be installed/removed in a matter of minutes by one person.
4) The Brumby Pump requires no on going maintenance. Jimmy informed me that some times it is necessary to service a pump every three months?? Particularly if the water has a high oxide content.
5) Brumby Pumps can handle sand & grit.

I then took the Brumby Pump to Sipho who is a bore hole rigger and has been in the industry for many years and is highly respected in his trade.

Sipho operates in Alexandria in The Eastern Cape, a very productive agricultural area.
There are allot of dairy farmers who all have bore holes.
When we did a demo to Sipho last week he was also blown away.
We put a Brumby Pump in a bore hole at his house. In a matter of minutes the pump was in the bore hole and pumping approx 1000 liters an hour. In another matter of minutes the pump was removed. That was enough for Sipho. He has purchased a pump and is busy installing it for a local farmer today.

I had a meeting today with another friend Dave who is an ex farmer and now specializes in bore hole pumps. He sells and maintains pumps as well. Need I say any more. He was blown away and the good news is:
He is working for a farming syndicate on an advisory basis and they have 300 boreholes on their farms. I think he said the total size of the farms is 16 000 hectares.

All The Brumby Pump requires is a compressor to operate. The compressor can be electrical.
In this case the compressor can work off of a solar panel with an inverter. This is a massive benefit. Especially in Africa where electrical supply is so sporadic.
We all know the first thing to be affected by lighting is the submersible pump. It blows the motor everytime. In Africa we experience allot of electrical storms. The Brumpy Pump will not be affected in this event.

The compressor can also be operated using a wind generator or even a hand operated generator ( a hand driven dynamo)

My Vision is to get fresh water to the rural communities in South Africa and other African countries. I firmly believe the Brumby Pumps is going to allow us to achieve this.

In addition the Brumby Pump is going to be instrumental in allowing subsistence farmers to irrigate their crops more effectively and in turn will lead to prosperity.

I look forward to engaging with all interested parties far and wide.
We are also looking to appoint distributors of the Brumby Pump in every Province/ Region of South Saharan Africa.

I look forward to hearing your comments or suggestions.
